Espresso and Coffee Drinks
House Brew
Our house brew changes daily, but is almost always a single origin roast. We roast all of our beans in house. The house brew may taste very different day to day based on what beans are used. Ask your barista if you are curious. Some of the coffees that we serve are Rwandan, Tanzanian, Colombian, Guatemalan, and Brazilian. We use a Bunn drip coffee maker for the house brew. We offer the house brew in 8 oz., 12 oz. and 16 oz. serving sizes to go. If you have your coffee here, we serve in 8 oz. and 12 oz. sizes.

Pour Over
The pour over is a crafted drink by our barista. When the barista is making a pour over coffee, it almost looks like a chemistry experiment. Coffee is ground and put into a filter over a carafe, and then hot water is slowly poured in a circle over the grounds. This process can take approximately five minutes, so do not order this drink if you are in a hurry. This is a slow coffee experience that cannot be rushed.

Espresso
Espresso is both a type of coffee and a process. Espresso uses a blend of coffee beans (not single origin) that are finely ground. Our La Marzocco espresso machine uses highly pressurized hot water to quickly press the water through the coffee to make a dense, creamy two ounce shot of espresso coffee. A split shot of espresso is a one ounce drink. We use a double (2 ounce) shot of espresso for our standard espresso. A common misconception is that espresso has higher caffeine than a standard house brew. However, the opposite is true because the longer the coffee ground are brewed, the more caffeine is in the drink. Since the espresso is only brewed for about 30 seconds or less, not as much caffeine is drawn out of the beans. If you order an espresso, you will get a small, intense drink.

Cortado
The cortado is a small, 4.5 ounce, espresso drink with steamed milk added. The milk is a dense, microfoam that “cuts” the strong taste of the plain espresso. The word cortado translates from Spanish to English as the word cut or chopped up. In this drink, we cut the espresso with the milk. Since the cortado uses steamed milk, latte art can be done on this little drink. Cortados are a very balanced drink due to the ratio of milk to espresso.

Traditional Macchiato
The traditional Italian macchiato that we serve at Beans & Butter is another small espresso drink. The macchiato is similar to the cortado, but it has a more textured steamed milk foam, not the dense steamed milk of the cortado. Macchiato means “marked,” and this is due to the way the milk foam marks the espresso. The macchiato is a four ounce hot drink.

Cappuccino
The cappuccino is a little bit larger than the cortado or macchiato, yet are still a smaller drink. Cappuccinos are 2 ounces of espresso topped with equal parts dense, steamed milk and foamy milk. This ends up being approximately a 6 ounce drink. Many coffeehouses in the US serve a much larger version of the cappuccino, but ours at Beans & Butter is the traditional Italian cappuccino.
Caffe Latte
The caffe latte is our most popular drink at Beans & Butter. It can be served hot or iced. We serve the iced drink in a 16 ounce serving size. Hot drinks come in 8 oz., 12 oz. or 16 oz. sizes. All of our lattes have the same 2 ounces of espresso as the base, but the difference in sizing comes down to the amount of steamed milk that is added. If you want a larger drink, understand that you are not getting more espresso, just more milk. For those who are not really into the stronger tasting coffee drinks, the 16 oz. latte is a good drink. The addition of one of our syrups makes the Caffe Latte a truly decadent drink.

Mocha Latte
The mocha latte is a caffe latte with the additional of chocolate syrup. We offer both the White Mocha Latte and the Dark Mocha Latte in hot and iced versions.
Vanilla Latte
The vanilla latte is a caffe latte with our house made vanilla syrup. Vanilla lattes are available both hot and iced.
Honey Almond Latte
This drink is a caffe latte with our house made honey almond syrup. This drink comes as a hot or cold drink. The Honey Almond Latte is a Beans & Butter original signature drink.
Cinnamon Cardamom Latte
Our most popular drink, the cinnamon cardamom latte is another signature drink from Beans & Butter. Developed by Stacey Simmons, our house made cinnamon cardamom latte is a delicious, exotic combination of flavors that translates well in both our hot and cold lattes.

Americano
The Americano comes in both hot and cold varieties, with the cold variety being a 16 ounce iced drink. Americanos came to be in World War II when American GIs stationed in Italy wanted a coffee drink that tasted more reminiscent to what they were accustomed to instead of the espresso that was served in Italy. To do this, hot water is added to espresso to water it down into a milder drink. For our 8 oz. and 12 oz. hot drinks, a 2 ounce ounce shot of espresso is used. However, for the 16 oz. hot drink, 3 ounces of espresso are used so that it is not too watered down.
Cold Brew
Our cold brew is coffee steeped in cold water in the refrigerator overnight. This is the most caffeinated drink we serve (along with Nitro Cold Brew). Even though the drink is high in caffeine, it is a smooth and easy to drink.
Nitro Cold Brew
Our cold brew coffee with the addition of nitrogen gas. Our Nitro Cold Brew is a smooth way to get a large dose of caffeine. The nitrogen gas makes a beautiful cascade effect when poured.
Syrups
All of these drinks can have syrups added to them to make your own special concoction. Ask your barista for your level of sweetness. A little can go a long way with some of the syrups.
Milks
In addition to whole dairy milk, we also offer almond and oat milks.
Loose Leaf Teas
We have a variety of loose leaf teas that can be served to you either hot, iced or in a tea latte.
All of our loose leaf teas are brewed when you order them. The only exception would be a seasonal iced tea special.
Our in house hot teas are served in our insulated glass tea carafe for a luxurious tea service. A to-go tea will be measured and steeped for you in a disposable cup.
Black Teas
English Breakfast Tea
A black tea, generally a blend of teas from different origins such as Ceylon, Assam and Kenya, English Breakfast is traditionally brewed strongly with a dark, robust flavor that goes well with milk and sugar. English Breakfast is one of the most popular teas worldwide.
Earl Grey Tea
A fragrant black tea, Earl Grey is a citrusy, floral tea. We serve Arteo Earl Grey teas, which use the entire bergamot fruit to infuse the tea instead of just essential oil of bergamot. The effect is a delicious and wonderfully scented cup of tea.

Assam Tea
A single origin tea named for the region in India that this tea is grown and produced, Assam is a black tea that is considered a breakfast tea, or a stronger tasting tea. The region of Assam is one of the two places in the world that tea grows natively, the other being China. Assam tea is noted for its malty taste. As with English Breakfast, this tea would be well suited to the additions of milk and sugar.
Chai
We serve chai spiced tea in a couple of ways at Beans & Butter Coffeehouse. If you order a Chai Tea Latte, your drink is made with a chai concentrate syrup made in house, served with steamed milk, or with cold milk and iced. If you order a loose leaf chai, we will brew a spiced tea in hot water for you. Chai translates to the word tea. Chai is a black tea, so it does have caffeine. If you need more of a caffeine jolt in your drink, order a Dirty Chai Latte, which has the addition of a one ounce shot of espresso.
Oolong Tea
Neither truly black or green, dependent fully on processing, Oolong tea has caffeine. Traditional Oolong tea is made by letting the plant wither and dry under the hot sun, followed by the leaves curling and twisting. This tea has several steps during it’s processing, and Oolong flavor varies depending on where it is grown and the type of processing. The flavor can either be honey-like and fruity to grassy, earthy and complex. Oolong can be infused up to five times due to the complex rolling of the leaves. Cover your tea while steeping, and do not steep for long, only a minute or two.
Green Teas
Jasmine Green Tea
Our jasmine tea is infused with jasmine flowers to impart an aromatic tea drinking experience. Unlike flavored teas, scented teas use the actual jasmine flowers layered on top of the tea when picked and processed to transfer the jasmine scent to the tea leaves. Green tea should not be steeped long, around 2 to three minutes total, else it can become bitter.
Herbal Teas
Chamomile Tea
A naturally caffeine-free herbal tea, chamomile flowers are daisy-like flowers with white petals and a yellow center. Dried chamomile tea has a floral (not surprisingly) and buttery taste. There are many health benefits of chamomile including a calming, soothing effect, which make it good for those with anxiety. It’s a great tea to drink in the evening. Chamomile is thought to have anti-inflammatory properties. Chamomile should be steeped from 5 to 7 minutes.
If you are allergic to ragweed, daisies, marigolds, chrysanthemums, avoid this tea. If you are on blood-thinners, check with your physician to make sure it is OK for you to consume this tea.
Hibiscus Tea
Brewed from whole red petaled hibiscus flowers, this is a caffeine-free tea that is known for it’s beautiful rose color and tart flavor. Hibiscus tea is well known as a good supply of vitamin C and anti-oxidants. It’s scent and flavor is reminiscent of cranberries. It makes a very refreshing iced tea, but is also delicious served hot. Due to it’s naturally sour flavor, you may prefer to add honey or another sweetener. Hibiscus has an astringent mouthfeel. Steep hibiscus tea for 5 to 7 minutes.
Peppermint Tea
A naturally caffeine-free tea, peppermint tea has a sharp, spicy flavor. Peppermint tea has been known to be helpful for those who suffer from Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) by relaxing the stomach muscles. It is, however, not a good tea if you have gastroesophageal reflux disease, also known as GERD, as it can worsen heartburn.
Peppermint tea has anti-oxidants, and can be beneficial for those who have cold and flu symptoms due to the menthol in the mint. Steep this team for 5 minutes.
Matcha Teas
Organic Green Matcha
We serve Rishi Barista Matcha, which is considered an “everyday” matcha. Order as a matcha latte and add honey or another sweetener to taste. This is a second harvest Tencha matcha that is shaded for 3 to 4 weeks before harvesting. It is high in caffeine and has a rich, umami flavor.
Organic Blue Matcha
With notes of floral chamomile, we serve Arteao Organic Butterfly Pea Flower for our Blue Matcha. Considered a superfood, this tea is a caffeine-free tea that is a beautiful dark blue color. With the addition of lemon, it turns a beautiful violet color. This is a subtle flavored latte drink that makes a nice alternative to an espresso latte. This beautiful tea can be used to make beautiful iced drinks as well.

Organic Pink Matcha
Our organic pink matcha is the Arteao dragon fruit powder that has flavor notes of strawberry, kiwi, and pear. Naturally pink in color and non-caffeinated, this matcha is full or vitamins and minerals. Served as a latte, it makes a beautiful treat of a drink. This pink match is also used in crafted cold drinks.
